Accessible Showers

Above is a before and after of the same 48″ space for a shower. With the before the client was struggling. The plastic shower stall with its molded in shelves, rounded corners and tiny seat way to small to sit on took up valuable space, and the glass slider made it even more confining and difficult for a care giver to lend assistance. The after photo shows the same 48″ space using approved non skid porcelain mosaic tiles on the base, with floor to ceiling wall tile to taste. Building a shower with tile allows every square inch of space to be used. Also a built in niche keeps soap bottles neatly out of the way. The safety bars are placed where needed and are screwed in to solid wood framing installed while the shower is being built. Thermostatic safety faucets with rain shower and hand held shower are of the highest quality and easily accessible. The shower is built and reinforced for 10mm safety glass but a shower curtain will allow for more room and help care givers lend assistance if ever needed.(recommended) Read customer reviews…click

Tiled showers:

  • Tiled showers are more durable and longer lasting than plastic showers and with the new larger porcelain sizes and advancements in grout products, tile will look great for decades.
  • Tiled showers are more environmentally friendly. Tile is inert and does not contain harmful chemicals. Tile qualifies as clean fill and does not leach harmful chemicals into our air or ground water as plastic does.
  • Tile offers a wide variety of design and color options. Homeowners can customize the look of their shower to match any style or aesthetic preference. With floor to ceiling coverage.
  • Tiled showers increase a home’s resale value. A professionally installed custom tiled shower is a desirable feature that buyers appreciate.
  • Tile creates a warm, spa-like atmosphere in a bathroom and feels high-end and luxurious compared to plastic.
  • Tiled non slip porcelain shower bases are safer and far more durable than plastic alternatives and why they are used in commercial applications.

Quality & Affordable Tiled Walk in Showers

Installing an accessible shower makes it easier and more efficient for caregivers to lend assistance. At BC Senior Safety Services Ltd., we offer shower installations that provide style options while meeting accessibility needs throughout the greater Vancouver area.

We primarily craft showers using tile, the most durable and environmentally friendly material. Or we can use a cheaper plastic alternative but the cost savings is marginal. Tile presents a more attractive alternative to limited plastic shower designs.

For user safety, we install thermostatic faucets and incorporate built-in niches for bath products. We can install shower seats or benches based on individual mobility requirements. We properly brace and reinforce shower walls and safety bars to ensure sturdy installation and risk-free use.

While glass is a common shower enclosure, we understand it may not suit all caregiver situations due to restricting access. We welcome open discussions to design the ideal shower configuration to meet each client’s unique needs and living assistance circumstances.

We glue porcelain non skid mosaic tile to the shower base with epoxy thickened with high strength, high density filler. It strong, like granite.
Totally barrier free for wheelchair access.
